On the treadmill again - 3 miles at 11:00 pace and the last mile at 9:15.  Sometimes I like doing speed work on the treadmill because then I can't slow it down without consciously pushing the button.  When I'm outside, I have to keep checking my garmin to make sure I haven't slowed - and then my garmin isn't always accurate at a specific point in time.

Great job, Laura!

By the way, I withdrew Sam from that online school yesterday. I am now OFFICIALLY a homeschooler. I like it much better so far(1 day down, a million to go...)

Great job! You ran two days in a row. That's wonderful.

By the way, I'm thinking that I want to run that 10 miler on October 11 as a training run and not try to go too fast, so whatever pace you want to do is fine by me.

Hey, Lybi, you've gotta call me tomorrow and give me the scoop!! What happened with the virtual academy? Do you have to mail all 9 boxes of supplies back?!?! Congratulations on homeschooling, though. I know you'll be awesome however you do it!!

Carolyn, wow, that's very generous of you! But what are you training for now? Do you already have a marathon picked out? By the way, the site doesn't say much about the race. Is it an up and back? Do they have water and gatorade stations? Are there T-shirts? (very important, haha!) That'll be AWESOME to run with you!!!

I'm thinking that I'll do the Ogden marathon next May. So I'm not really training for anything specific in the near term. I'm just trying to ramp up on miles, and maintain it for a while so I'll be ready to start marathon training in earnest in January. Also, I'm trying to loose about 15 more pounds.

There is a course map posted on the race site now, but I can't decipher this one very well because it's on trails instead of streets. It's not out and back in the sense that you go out, turn around and come right back (I think the 5 miler is, but not the 10 miler). Instead, you go out, kind of do a loop, and come back to the same place you started. So it's like an out and back in that you start and end at the same place.

I've only ever run a 5K in this race series before and they've had one water station in those. I'm sure they have more water stations with the 10 miler, but I can't say for sure whether they'll have gatorade or not. Maybe I'll email that question to the race organizer.

I'm sure there will be t-shirts. These HRCA races are small races (about 200 entrants usually) and they always have packet pick-up right before the race. You pick up your bib and timing chip and you also get your goody bag and t-shirt before the race starts. So if you want your first choice of t-shirt size, it's good to be there early. I always try to get there in plenty of time before the race (45 minutes or so) so that I have time to get all checked in, visit the port-o-potty, and warm up a little bit.

I'm looking forward to running with you. I'll let you know if I get information about aid stations.
