Dawn and I ran on our favorite trail today - the one we frequented a lot this summer as we were preparing for our half marathon.  Boy, it's sad how quickly cardio is lost when you don't keep it up.  3 miles on a rolling trail is much more difficult than 3 miles on a treadmill!  It was a good cardio workout ... and we were going slow!  It's been nice to have someone to run with again.

I'm glad you got someone to run with. Will I see you running more now?

From Christi on Wed, Jan 07, 2009 at 11:50:07

Yay for running partners! Don't worry too much about fitness its the dead of winter, it will come back with spring. Just keep getting outside when you can & using that treadmill- you'll be fine!

On the trail with Dawn.  She didn't want to go very far today because she's still feeling a little sick.  It's nice to have a running partner, but she can only fit me into her schedule once a week.  Bummer.

A once/week partner is better than no partner. I'm always glad to see you run.

1.5 miles with Mike and Kathie (his sister) in Phoenix.  This was the first time Kathie had gone a mile without stopping!!  Woohoo!!!!  We walked for a little bit and then finished  running.

Then, Kathie called it quits, and Mike and I ran another 1.5 miles.  It's so nice to run with my sweet husband.  :)

Yoga with Lybi at her gym.  I've actually never gone to a yoga class before; I've only used videos or had a friend from church help me.  It was quite fun, and of course, challenging at times.  I didn't think I did too bad until my abs were sore the next day - and my upper back.  Haha!

I hope it's a good sore.

On the trail with Dawn.  She bought a funny little device called a Body Bug which is a super accurate calorie counter.  She has to enter what she eats, but it calculates how much she expends throughout the day.  Pretty cool, but I don't think I'd ever want to know that much information!  I like to just live!  :)

Good job on the run!

I've heard of the Body Bug before, but have never used it because of the cost. And you don't need it since you don't over eat.

I've been sick most of this week with the flu.  I probably pushed it a little early going out this morning, but I had a running partner, so ... heck!  We took a more difficult trail but kept it slow.  It was nice to be out, but I went to an eye appt right after our run and when the doctor asked me which lens looked more clear, I seriously wanted to say, "Who cares; I just want to sleep right here. Right now."  Haha.  I was so grateful for a nap later in the day!

Yuck - the flu. I hope you're feeling better. And I'm glad you got your nap. I'm always glad when you get out for a run.

I'm thinking that after my marathon I may do halfs for the rest of the year. There's the Georgetown half in August, and that American Discovery Trail one - is it in September? And then Highlands Ranch has one sometime in the fall, I'm not sure when. Do you want to pick one to train for and do it with me?

From Lybi on Tue, Feb 03, 2009 at 19:47:16

I'm so sorry you've been sick! Great job getting out!

The weather's beautiful. I expect to see you running again soon!

From laura on Sat, Feb 07, 2009 at 16:33:50

Sorry, Carolyn. Sometimes I just forget to blog my runs. :) I've actually run twice this week and I plan to run today too. The weather IS gorgeous!

My husband is out of town, so I couldn't go running with Dawn - but it turns out that she couldn't run either this morning.  So, three on the treadmill!  What beeeeeaautiful weather!  It feels like I should be planting flowers already even though it's still the beginning of February!

Good thing you have a treadmill. Hopefully you'll be able to get outside soon before the weather changes again. I don't dare hope that it stays this way.

I actually went running outside by myself today.  It was the first time in a long time; I'm either on the treadmill by myself or outside with Dawn.  It was kind of nice to get outside.  The treadmill can be tedious at times.

On the treadmill while Mike was on the elliptical right next to me.  We were watching Stardust.  That's a great movie to exercise to, for some reason.  It's a great movie either way; but it's surprisingly good at distracting you from your mile ticker.  :)

I was supposed to meet Dawn today, but she didn't show up and I had accidentally left my cell phone in my other car.  So, I figured something must've come up - and I went running by myself.  Beautiful trail!  I love the Santa Fe trail; I feel like I've left the hectic busy life behind me while I run through the trees and fields.  Very refreshing run.

Good for you for running on your own! I'm proud of you. And two days in a row, to boot. Hooray!

From lybi on Fri, Feb 13, 2009 at 13:21:34

Nice! But take a bear horn or something if you're gonna go alone. you're snack sized!

People, no joke, they see BIG bears in their neighborhood--far too often.

Haha. Sorry, Carolyn. I'm still running with my friend on Tuesdays and Thursdays and trying to squeeze in more on my own (I've made it my goal to run every day this week - Spring Break). I just kind of gave up on posting them.

From Carolyn in Colorado on Wed, Mar 25, 2009 at 14:21:24 from 75.169.166.13

How am I supposed to keep track of you if you don't post your workouts?

We've got spring break this week too. I'm in Utah getting a workout from the blog people here.

I am proud of you that you are still running, though, even with all the stuff you have going on. You are amazing.
